My grandmother has perfusion problems so I just started a happy fire in her house to scare her heart into action. Don't worry it was a controlled burn and right now her legs are thanking me. Her heart ain't too strong and she probably could have died but I've got to get my burn on. There are not a lot of fun things to do in the country so when the electricity goes out, we have to make our own fun and this usually either involves fire, ducktape, grandma or a combination of all three elements. I bet you didn't know grandma was an element? She has a freezing point and a boiling point. My granddaddy drove her to both many times per month before the cancer started in his testicle and slowly drove north to his cerebellum which was strangely about the size of his testicle. They were two very important balls of life for that man.

I picked up some Noam Chomsky on a.m. and it drove me to drive to the bookstore. I spent $134 on mostly Noam and one Boards of Canada cd and it's funny b/c one of the jackets has a picture of Noam sitting on a board (bench)in Canada! I felt guilty for spending money but now I'm feeling more guilty. During the 80's 100,000 people, many civilians died in Guatemala alone. Noam says that many of the operations were clandestine in Central America which is counterintuitively a testament to a free U.S. It seems strange to think about it this way but if the U.S. would have leaked it's operations to media outlets, the populice would not have supported military action. What made military training possible was mercenary states. Israel, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan all had military leaders in Central America representing American interest, training guerillas how to fight more efficiently and giving them better arms.

Chomsky finds the military under Reagan as similar to action taken under Kennedy's presidency with Operation MONGOOSE and the cuban missile crisis. He says it is a misunderstood idea that Russia was dangling the carrot, at one point when all was resolved between the U.S. and Russia a factory in Havana was blown up under Operation MONGOOSE and some 400 people were killed. The U.S. had made up to 8 known assassination attempts on Castro and Cuba wanted to keep the missiles under their guard to keep the very plausible threat of U.S. invasion. So during this time when it was almost resolved some cocky Air Force commander who seemed to want a war decided to bypass orders from Washington and move security levels to number 2 on a scale of 1 to 5, one meaning military action is being taken. Well this whole thing, the mobilization of units is easily picked up by Russian intelligence and is sort of meant to be spectacle and so the Russians could have responded immediately b/c they had reason to be threatened but they were actually sort of lazy (probably Absolutely lazy) and thank God they didn't act. The Russians were scared shitless, I think this is really the reason, not just vodka. All the vodka in the world won't make your nukes fly any less crooked.

This is all in the first five pages of one of the 6 books I bought. I have seen him speak on charlie Rose and his speech represents his writing, the guy is more encyclopedia than flesh bag. Why can't we get people like that into office? I bet he has made enough on royalties by now to make a go at it. I could see Chomsky running with Ben Stein as V.P. or how about an all Bloom ticket. Alan with Harold as V.P. I would say Harold as president but he wrote that super fat Shakespeare book and each chapter was like another inch on his ass, I'm not sure he'd fit into the oval office chair too well but then again Taft broke chairs. These people would never make it, they are far too dorkey. Chomsky wears courduroy jackets and Stein's delivery is slow plus with those airwalk shoes people might think he smokes pot.
